The role
As a Tactical Project Buyer at Damen Naval you will be responsible for contracting the necessary products materials and services crucial for our shipbuilding this role youll develop and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers and initiate market research to monitor and report on cost trends for key raw materials within your domain. You will also work closely with a team of expert colleagues playing a vital role in ensuring project success through effective procurement.

Key accountabilities
In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating the entire procurement process according to established procedures and project boundaries.
  • Initiating market research and fostering supplier development to secure and maintain a reliable supplier base.
  • Monitoring and reporting on cost trends for key raw materials.
  • Researching qualifying and evaluating suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Leading improvement processes with suppliers driven by supplier qualification and evaluation.
  • Collaborating on category management defining and effectively executing category strategies.
  • Providing reliable data for budgeting and cost price calculations.
  • Developing proposals for standardization and framework agreements and meticulously monitoring and maintaining them.


Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 5 years of procurement experience in a technical environment.
  • Bachelors degree in a technical (business administration) field.
  • Nevi-1 and Nevi-2 certifications or a willingness to obtain them.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills combined with assertiveness and a self-driven well-organized approach.
  • Good command of Dutch and English both written and spoken.
  • Available to frequently work from our headquarter in Vlissingen.
  • Excellent references as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
