Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating cleaning sterilizing and distributing medical and surgical equipment and supplies. This role requires a strong understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control practices. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning.
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating cleaning sterilizing and distributing medical and surgical equipment and supplies. This role requires a strong understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control practices. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning.
Location:Mission Viejo California United States
Responsibilities:
- Decontaminates cleans sterilizes and distributes medical and surgical equipment and supplies.
- Operates and maintains sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and sterilizers.
- Inspects equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Assembles instrument trays and sets.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes.
- Follows infection control policies and procedures.
- Stocks and distributes supplies.
- Answers unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs.
- Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.

Special Considerations:
- On-call responsibilities required 1 weekend per month.
- May be required to float to other facilities.
- Every other weekend work is required and may exceed due to need.
- RTO must be included at the time of submission.
- Facility is able to call off once per two week pay period.
