Overview

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week.

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Responsibilities

As a Production Engineer (Assembly) you will:

  • Utilize CAD software to design tooling for assembly welding and pressure testing.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with visual aids to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Manage ERP/MRP data including part numbers Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routes.
  • Design and validate new production lines to optimize efficiency and output.
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEAs) and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement lean manufacturing tools such as Kanban 5S and SMED to streamline operations.
  • Prepare and justify CAPEX proposals for new equipment and technologies.
  • Provide technical support to production teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Analyze product costs and address quality issues including Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and change requests.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor production metrics identify bottlenecks and drive productivity improvements.
  • Contribute to Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects and other engineering solutions.

Qualifications

To excel in this role you should possess:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing methods and principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD 3D design for jigs and fixtures.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) SMED Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Kaizen and 5S.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Lean Manufacturing and VAVE principles.
  • Excellent communication project management and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint Outlook Word Project and Excel.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

  • Designing and refining tooling and fixtures to enhance production processes.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement SOPs.
  • Analyzing production data to identify areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Leading team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing hands-on support to production teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Preparing reports and presentations to communicate progress and results to stakeholders.
