General Job Description
The Womens Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) provides comprehensive patient-centered reproductive and gynecologic healthcare across the lifespan. This role includes assessment diagnosis treatment and management of womens health conditions with a focus on health promotion disease prevention and evidence-based practice. The WHNP collaborates with physicians nurses and the broader care team to deliver high-quality clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive and problem-focused womens health assessments including gynecologic and breast exams.
- Diagnose and manage common gynecologic conditions (e.g. infections menstrual disorders pelvic pain menopause).
- Provide prenatal and postpartum care in collaboration with obstetric providers (if applicable to the setting).
- Conduct family planning counseling contraceptive management and preconception counseling.
- Insert and manage long-acting reversible contraception (IUDs implants).
- Order interpret and follow up on diagnostic tests (labs imaging screenings).
- Prescribe medications and treatments per state scope of practice.
- Provide STI testing treatment and risk-reduction counseling.
- Manage perimenopause/menopause care including hormone therapy.
- Deliver trauma-informed culturally sensitive care.
Patient Education & Counseling
- Educate patients on reproductive health preventive care and wellness strategies.
- Support patients through diagnosis and treatment plans ensuring understanding and shared decision-making.
- Provide breastfeeding postpartum and newborn care education (if applicable).
Collaboration & Coordination
- Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians midwives nurses behavioral health specialists and others.
- Refer patients to specialty services as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews and quality improvement activities.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EHR.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies regulatory standards and evidence-based guidelines (ACOG AWHONN NP standards).
- Participate in data collection audits or reporting as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Board certification as a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) or equivalent degree.
- Current unrestricted RN & APRN/NP license in the state of practice.
- DEA registration (or eligibility).
- BLS certification; ACLS or NRP may be required depending on setting.
- Clinical experience in womens health (new grads may be considered where applicable).
Preferred
- 13 years of WHNP OB/GYN or CNM clinical experience.
- Experience with IUD/implant procedures.
- Experience in ambulatory womens health family planning high-risk OB or specialty gynecology.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and patient-education abilities.
- Commitment to evidence-based patient-centered care.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs).

FQHCs are community-based health care providers that receive funds from the HRSA Health Center Program to provide primary care services in underserved areas. They must meet a stringent set of requirements including providing care on a sliding fee scale based on ability to pay and operating under a governing board that includes patients.
The defining legislation for Federally Qualified Health Centers (under the Consolidated Health Center Program) is Section 1905(l)(2)(B) of the Social Security Act. TMFC has also been awarded recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home Program. NCQAs PCMH Recognition program is the most widely adopted PCMH evaluation program in the country.
Tri-Med Family Care is a sub-recipient of a Georgia Family Planning System (GFPS) grant and is deemed a family planning service site. GFPS ensures access to high-quality pregnancy planning and prevention services integrated with other preventive health care for women men and adolescents with priority given to low-income and uninsured individuals who may otherwise lack access regardless of income and health insurance status.
TMFC is credentialed as a Community Provider in the VA Community Care Network (CCN). The CCN is the VAs direct link with community providers to ensure Veterans receive timely high-quality care.

Prescribing of necessary medications
Pharmacy Services
Tri-Med Family Cares full-service walk-in/drive-thru pharmacy is conveniently located at the rear of our parking lot. Our on-site pharmacy participates in the 340B Drug Discount Program a federal government program requiring drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs at significantly reduced prices. These prescription drug price savings are directly passed onto you as an TMFC patient regardless of insurance status.
Our pharmacy is open to the general-public and offers over the counter products free self-blood pressure monitoring hassle-free prescription transfer and medication counseling and therapy management. We accept Medicare Medicaid and most private insurances and offer sliding fee scale pricing to patients who qualify.
