Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site in Kilkenny that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems.

The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier happier a global leader in diabetes care Abbott is constantly working to deliver the highest quality products and unwavering support to our customers. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan so were committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure track and analyze glucose levels

As a Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer you will apply highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in reliability engineering production support identification and elimination of equipment addition you will take ownership of the successful implementation of reliability projects and initiatives.

What Youll Do

  • Provides global reliability technical leadership.
  • Apply technical knowledge to proactively eliminate risks and drive improved consistency of performance within production equipment and processes.
  • Utilize TPM technical SMEs to develop effective reliability initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of Reliability Initiatives at a site level to drive standardization across the process footprint.
  • Coach more junior Engineers through technical and process challenges.
  • Communicates technical updates effectively to all levels of the business.
  • Defines develops and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes:
    • Value-added defined and standardised preventive maintenance tasks
    • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Provides input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact operations.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations.

Experience Youll Bring

  • Bachelors Degree Preferably in engineering or other scientific field.
  • Minimum 5 years in electronic and/or medical/biotech industries.
  • 5-10 plus years of manufacturing experience with companies engaged in the manufacture of high quality FDA regulated products.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards of medical devices.
  • Proven leadership skills results oriented highly collaborative team player and self starter who can operate in a fast pace environment.
  • Experience in state-of-the-art multi-step high volume process control manufacturing and process development.
  • Experience with ISO 9001/CE Mark requirements.
  • Manufacturing management experience in manufacturing planning documented systems GMP and quali
