Job Summary

We are currently looking for a People Officer

  • The Hague Netherlands           
  • Fulltime 40 hours a week

Are you a proactive detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced international environment SNV is looking for an energetic and diligent People Officer. 

Who you are 
You are a true communicator and spider in the web. You like to connect the dots and translate the why and use of different People tools into an appealing story for supervisors and team members planning organising and managing a variety of tasks all aimed with the goal of enabling the Global People team to deliver maximum value to the organisation. This is your idea of a fulfilling role. You manage multiple activities and topics simultaneously while maintaining a clear overview. Your focus is on People attraction and development moving towards a more skill-based people plan for SNV.

As you are connecting the guidance on people planning and development and reward and mobility you are also in an excellent position to oversee the full OKR for the People Team. Thus you will work closely with the Director of People on stakeholder management and you will support her agenda and calendar. You will also keep track of budgets and support tender processes and service contracting.

You will continuously find ways to enhance our People processes and develop solutions tailored to our organisations needs. Additionally you will support Talent team in coordinating communicating and reporting on key People Cycle processes such as performance reviews- translating data into insights on the health of our organisation. You will also own the People teams intranet site and related communications (via SharePoint).

You have a keen eye for detail with strong organisational skills quick to pick things up and well-versed in Microsoft Office. You have a basic understanding of HR Information Systems and you excel in written and spoken English. Most importantly you love making a meaningful difference while working in a multicultural global environment.

As a People Officer you will focus on the following areas:

  1. Communications (about 50% of the role)
  • Own and keep up to date the People teams SharePoint site and other communication channels which need an intensive upgrade towards the employee journey. You build story lines create a new policy framework and ensure all campaigns are connected and shared with a similar tone of voice.
  1. People operations support (about 25% of the role)
  • You work with the Global Talent team on all related activities on talent development and attraction whether it is CARE integration or capability development on skillsets you own publication and streamline launch and maintenance. 
  • Act as the People Officer by participating in key recurring People cycle activitiessuch as performance reviews talent mapping and onboardingin close collaboration with the Talent team.
  1. Agenda and travel management (about 25% of the role)
  • Oversee the agenda of the Director of People including meeting coordination preparation and logistical arrangements. This includes organising People team meetings and People events.
  • Assist in organising preparing and managing overseas travel for the Director of People and in some cases for other team members. Any duties pertaining to travel assistance such as making travel plans and applying for visas. Coordinate with the country office team to arrange schedules and local transportation. 

Qualifications :


What you will bring:

  • A proactive attitude quick learning ability resilient and initiative with a solutions-oriented mindset and a passion for People and Culture.
  • Demonstrable relevant work experience ideally in a dynamic HR/People role within an international organisation. Experience in talent development or learning is a pré.
  • Practical applied knowledge of office management and People operations acquired through vocational training or on-the-job experience.
  • English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office SharePoint and Outlook for communication and data analysis.
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills with good attention to detail.
  • A caring supportive and can-do attitude inspired by SNVs mission
  • Flexible and dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Ability to carefully and discretely manage confidential information.
  • Availability to work in the office 2-3 days per week at our office in The Hague.
