As we continue to scale we are strengthening our financial governance and client-risk capability and were looking for a highly skilled Credit Controller / Accounts Receivable Manager to join our centralised Finance & Operations team.
This role is not a standard AR position. It is a high-impact credit control function that is responsible for driving the firms credit risk strategy improving cashflow reducing aged debt and embedding a mature AR framework across the business. Youll work closely with senior leadership partners fee earners and clients playing a critical role in safeguarding the firms financial health.
The Role
You will take end-to-end ownership of credit control and accounts receivable including:
Lead the firms credit risk framework including risk scoring categorisation and ongoing reviews.
Conduct credit checks and assess financial/behavioural risk for all new and existing matters.
Receipting and Reconciliation of both trust and general accounts.
Drive cashflow outcomes through proactive collections early-risk intervention and escalation management.
Manage debtor communication professionally and resolve payment issues collaboratively with lawyers.
Monitor WIP trust exposure and high-risk matters to minimise arrears and write-offs.
Deliver clear reporting and insights (DSO aged debt risk mapping) to senior leadership.
Improve AR processes workflows system automation and credit control SOPs.
Maintain governance controls including the high-risk watchlist and client-risk recommendations.
About You
Youll be a strong fit if you bring:
Experience in credit control accounts receivable or financial risk management (legal/professional services preferred but not essential).
Strong analytical capability and confidence interpreting financial risk indicators.
A proactive structured approach to collections and credit governance.
High emotional intelligence with the ability to handle difficult conversations assertively and professionally.
Experience improving processes implementing frameworks or building credit tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
