POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technical Training Specialist reports to the Industrial Engineering Manager and works with plant management to assess employee job skills to build and coordinate customized training to increase employee job competencies and productivity. This is a hands-on role where most time is spent working with employees in a heavy industrial shop environment.

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include but are not limited to:

Work with plant management to assess employee skills to identify areas requiring training
Evaluate organizational performance to ensure training is meeting business needs
Collaborate with Corporate Training facility resources to deploy and modify training
Research and understand local training resources
Participate in and support quality projects and initiatives to ensure that the company achieves its goals

Departmental and Facility efficiency
TRIR (Safety-Total Recordable Incident Rate)
DART (Safety-Days Away Restricted or Transferred)
Internal Nonconformances (Ratio measure of Quality)
Employee Turnover
Employee Satisfaction

HABITS OF THE SUCCESSFUL TECHNICAL TRAINING SPECIALIST:

Conduct facility walks on each shift identifying process concerns
Spend time on off shifts
Troubleshoot process performance metrics
Attend supervisory toolbox talks
Participate in continuous improvement events and recognition programs
Engage with employees to develop transparent communication
Work with employees to perform and understand work processes and hazards
Actively solicit best practices from peers
Understand Marmon Toolbox
Daily review of process and procedure changes

SPECIFICATIONS/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma required; College degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of related on the job experience in heavy manufacturing or repair environment
3-5 years Tank car knowledge/experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to lead others and demonstrate techniques to achieve the desired results
Proficient with Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel
Journey person status a plus

65430.00 - 79970.00
