Key Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures proper pharmacy functionality supports patient treatment and ensures regulatory compliance in the absence of the Chief Pharmacist
- Educates patients and care teams on the proper use and expected side effects of medications and acts as consult for prescribing providers on pharmacology and drug interactions of medications
- Maintains financial records and generates reports as required by law to ensure compliance
- Interprets physicians prescriptions and prepares and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines
- Provides training and instruction to students as needed
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and resolves routine personnel issues
- Requisitions inventory and monitors controlled narcotics and may compound specially ordered drugs
