JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Career Education and Cooperative Learning (position in development) a Career Educator contributes to strategic plan execution through innovation inclusion and impact. Designs and implements curricular and co-curricular programming for undergraduate and graduate business students to advance career development outcomes and enhance student experiences.

Instructs students in the Chaifetz School of Business (CSB) through Business Career Foundation courses co-curricular workshops and Professional Effectiveness courses providing specialized career lessons throughout students curriculum. Provides specialized career support to students as follow-up to in-class experiences. Is a member of the CSB Co-op3 Operating Committee charged by school leadership to evaluate student candidates and support participants as the instructor of record for CSBs distinct-in-the-marketplace six-month full-time paid work assignment program. Additionally designs and manages Internship-for-Credit processes. Collects data and develops reports on experiential education outcomes for undergraduate students and graduate student employment outcomes. Serves as liaison for Business School faculty and closely communicates and collaborates with staff in the Chaifetz School of Business SLU Career Services Alumni Services and other staff across campus.

Curriculum Responsibilities (65%):

  • Teaches 2-3 sections of BIZ 3000 each spring and fall semester.

  • Designs and implements responsive curriculum and innovative teaching practices through the BIZ 3000 Career Foundations CORE-approved course (aka Cura Personalis 3 for business students). This includes Canvas site management with relevant event and program information enrollment coordination and class scheduling. A key element of curriculum design will be the impact of a Jesuit education on future career trajectory. Includes coordinating faculty interview assignments and integrating alumni contacts and other professionals as guest speakers.

  • Is a member of the CSB Co-op3 Operating Committee charged by school leadership to evaluate student candidates and support participants as the instructor of record for CSBs distinct-in-the-marketplace six-month full-time paid work assignment program. Assesses applicants eligibility for program leads the committee in the evaluation process leads orientation training for approved participants and is the instructor for the Co-op3 class evaluating required course deliverables. Includes contributing to the end of semester Co-op3 symposium.

  • Develops and teaches the dynamic masters level graduate course MBA 6016 Professional Effectiveness focused on career enhancement targeted to meet the unique needs of the full-time intensive One Year MBA program. This includes Canvas site management in accordance with Saint Louis University distance learning standards (for both faculty and content) with relevant event and program information enrollment coordination and class scheduling during summer fall and spring semesters.

  • Designs and executes experiential learning opportunities for MBA students by soliciting employer guests for panel discussions individual resume reviews annual MBA Speed Networking and Reception event and individual mock interviews.

  • Introduces the Chaifetz Schools career development resources to first semester business students in BIZ 1000 (aka Cura Personalis 1 for business students) and co-teaches a class session on Professionalism Basics. Coordinates and co-teaches Focus2 (a career counseling tool) and Career Discernment session and an Introduction to LinkedIn session in BIZ 1100 Business in Action course during spring and fall semesters.

  • Promotes experiential knowledge through management of the Internship-for-Credit program for graduate and undergraduate business students in spring summer and fall semesters. Includes coordinating of faculty sponsor assignments ensuring compliance with Career Services and registrar enrollment procedures facilitating student performance evaluations with employee sponsors collecting grades and tracking enrollment. Contributes to university participation in regulatory compliance by tracking and reporting internships-for-credit completed out of state. Ensures that international students meet all federal requirements to qualify for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and remain in compliance with F1 student visa regulations.

Programming and Other Responsibilities (30%):

  • Facilitates Chaifetz career-related alumni-to-student engagement through events including (but not limited to) MBA Speed Networking and the Career Round Table. Contributes to annual business school career fairs including Meet the Firms Night and Richard A. Chaifetz Career Day in both spring and fall.

  • Leverages databases to connect students and

  • Regularly engages with professional communities and organizations and conducts competitive research regarding similar programs to ensure Chaifetz students are offered innovative up-to-date programming and career education.

  • Provides critical data for business school rankings by collecting analyzing and reporting data relevant to career education efficacy and organizational excellence including:

    • First Destination Surveys for all Chaifetz School masters programs

    • Administering the Senior Experiential Learning survey to senior students to collect data for annual Experiential Education report

    • Reporting graduate student career-related outcomes to Chaifetz Schools accrediting body AACSB

Administrative Responsibilities (5%):

  • Ensures Career Education works towards the KPI goals outlined in the Chaifetz Strategic plan

  • Provides supervision and mentorship to Graduate Assistants

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of or interest in career development teaching and/or instructional technology

  • Clear understanding and commitment to teaching students to be open to growth seek intellectual competence and strive for justice as a part of their Jesuit education

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills and capability to engage various stakeholders Ability to communicate effectively with faculty college leadership employer representatives colleagues and students

  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team and independently

  • Knowledge of current pedagogical practices (including those applicable to distance-learning modalities) and ability to leverage learning management systems

  • Interest in developing innovative curricular content for college students

  • Ability to manage large amounts of data with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

  • Embodies innovation and inclusion

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree required; supplemented with five (5) years of relevant experience.

This role is fully in-person on campus at the Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University.
