The Educational Engagement team plays a vital role in supporting educators across UNSW andpromoting staff opportunitiesofferedbythe PVCE portfolio. Asateam dedicated specifically to staff-focused engagementwithin the Division of Education & Student Experience this group contributes directly to enhancing teaching capability and building a connected educational community.
This role (internally calledManager Educational Engagement)will guide the team through an important period of transition as processes programs and priorities evolve. This role is critical in providing strong people leadership change support and clear operational direction while turning strategic ideas into practical well-managed delivery. Your leadership will help ensure the continued rollout of high-quality initiatives that support UNSWs Progress for All strategy.
This is a parental leave replacement until October 2026 with an immediate start preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Provide steady people-centred team leadership during a period of organisational change using strong emotional intelligence to ensure staff feel supported aligned and clear on priorities
With strategic direction providedbytthe Lead role manage and deliver Educational Engagement initiatives from design to completion translating strategic plans into action and ensuring projects meet scope budget and timelines
Leadthe delivery ofmajor programs and eventsincluding the Education Festivalensuring delivery adds value to educators and the wider community
Build productive relationships with academic and professional staff understanding the unique context challenges and needs of those who support teaching and learning
Supportenhancementstoweb & digital repositories housing information aboutcapability-building engagement activities and staff-focused initiatives across the University
Guide the teams operational activities including planning change management reporting budgeting and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with colleagues who manage communications and digital channels (no specialist comms backgroundrequired)
Contribute to discussions about educator needs capability user experience and the staff journey

You will bring:
Demonstratedleadership experience(essential) with a focus on supporting teams through change transition or shifting priorities
Robust project and change management capability witha track recordof delivering multi-stakeholder initiatives
High emotional intelligence excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse groups
An understanding of Higher Education or similarly complex learning environments (highlydesirable)
Experience working with educators teaching support staff or capability-building programs (highlyadvantageous)
Awareness of web/UX design principles and user-focused thinking(notechnicalexperiencerequired)
A values-driven people-centred approach to leadership
Standard working hours are Monday to Friday business work arrangements are flexibility includes 2 days per week of work from home and 3 days from Kensington have an annual shutdown from the 22nd of December until the 5th of January during which the successful person will be required to take leave; one of the benefits of working at UNSW is that all full time and part time employees get 3 extra days of leave paid over that end of the year break.
