The Facilities and Maintenance Custodian is a 20-hour-per-week position primarily scheduled for evenings and weekends at KES Creston locations. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness safety and overall functionality of the facilities through a combination of janitorial and general maintenance duties. The Facilities and Maintenance Custodian ensures all areas meet established cleanliness standards manages waste and recycling and keeps janitorial spaces organized and well-supplied. They perform routine inspections respond to work orders and complete minor repairs such as painting patching replacing light bulbs and basic plumbing tasks. The role requires safely using ladders tools and equipment while adhering to all WHMIS PPE and workplace safety protocols. The Facilities and Maintenance Custodian communicates effectively with staff contractors and the Financial Coordinatorwho provides oversightto ensure maintenance needs are addressed promptly. Accurate documentation including maintenance logs and task records is essential to the position. The role occasionally includes moving furniture and assisting with indoor and outdoor upkeep with support provided for heavier items. A valid BC drivers license and access to a vehicle are required for sourcing supplies or parts with mileage covered. Reliability attention to detail professionalism and the ability to work both within and outside regular office hours are key to success in this role.
Required Competencies:
Minimum three (3) years of custodial and/or facility maintenance experience.
Knowledge of cleaning products equipment and techniques.
Familiarity with general building maintenance and repair methods.
WHMIS and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Physically capable and willing to perform manual tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing a ladder.
Ability and willingness to safely use a variety of tools including power tools.
Reliable detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
A valid BC drivers license and the use of a vehicle.
Ability to work flexible hours is desirable.
