As a medical records clerk you willbe responsible fororganizing managing andmaintainingpatient medical records. - Ensure the proper filing and organization of medical records usingappropriate systemsor software.
- Retrieve and release medical records as authorized following the facilitys policies and procedures.
- Process requests for medical records from healthcare providers insurance companies legal entities and patients ensuringtimelyandaccuratedelivery.
- Assistin auditing and quality assurance activities related to medical recordsidentifyingand rectifying any discrepancies or errors.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals administrative staff and other departments to coordinate the retrieval and exchange of medical records.
- Provideexcellent customer service to patients and external parties addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to medical records.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and guidelines related to medical recordkeeping andimplement necessary changes or updates tomaintaincompliance.
- Assistwith other administrative tasks such as data entry scanning documents and organizing files as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent;additionalcertifications in medical record keeping or health information management are a plus.
- Proven experience working as a medical records clerk or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology procedures and coding systems (e.g. ICD-10 CPT).
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical record management software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensureaccurateand efficient record keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Proficiencyin using computer systems and standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite).
