Department Profile

Wealth Management Product Technology (WMPT) is a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firms WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG) one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients. This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking cards deposit products residential mortgages securities-based loans and tailored lending. Position Description:

As part of strategy to design and implement industry leading applications Morgan Stanley WMPT team is looking for a Senior Java Tech lead to join a technologically advanced team focusing on innovation and building out the strategic Technology Platform. Work on QA processes for Banking workstream(s) with heavy focus on execution of automation across the Bank Product Domains dealing with various automation tools and techniques.

Candidate will work as part of an Agile squad and interact with other squad
members as well as external stakeholders including business and technology partners (local as well as global) across Wealth Management infrastructure team architecture team to deliver the objectives. Candidate will employ CICD well as DevOps principles to achieve SDLC goals of Global Banking Technology.


Position Overview: We are looking for a strong full-stack hands-on Senior Technologist with extensive experience in designing developing and supporting applications using latest technologies and tools (Java/J2EE Angular SQL Server Apache Solr etc.). You will work closely with the global team to help build next generation applications/platforms supporting critical front office functions. You should be results oriented comfortable working as part of an Agile team and thrive on participating in the development of systems that are of high quality. The Right Candidate 1) A hands-on Senior Technologist with 7-10 years of hands-on experience in designing developing and supporting enterprise applications end-to-end. 2) In-depth understanding and extensive experience in designing and developing complex web applications using the modern web application development technologies and frameworks. 3) Strong hands-on experience in developing large scale complex software solutions using Java/J2EE and related technologies and frameworks. 4) Experience in building JavaScript frameworks such as Angular 2 and frameworks such as Bootstrap highly desired. 5) Experience in developing web services using standard Java based frameworks/toolkits (REST SOAP JSON and XML). 6) Good understanding of DB concepts and experience working on SQL Server (or other RDBMS). 7) Experience in leading a team of developers to accomplish development and delivery of complex large-scale enterprise applications in agile environment. 8) Ability to coach and mentor junior team members. 9) Excellent communications analytical and problem-solving skills. 10) Exposure to and good understanding of Finance/Banking domain highly desired.

Required Experience: Skill Set: * Primary skills o Java/J2EE and relate technologies. o UI Technologies - Angular 2 or other similar Javascript based UI frameworks highly desired o Spring myBatis Gradle etc. o SQL Server (or any other RDBMS). o Web Services (REST SOAP JSON and XML).


Skills Desired:

  • Experience of building application with public Cloud (Azure or AWS)
  • Knowledge of Financial market banking products and Wealth Management
  • Ability to develop proof of concepts/prototypes in the new areas of development





Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum BS degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150000 and $210000 per year at the commencement of employment. However base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may also include commission earnings incentive compensation discretionary bonuses other short and long-term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
