A client (in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector) is currently seeking three (3) Asset counters to join them at their company based in the Western Cape (Cape Town) for a period of 4 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Asset Verification
- Conduct comprehensive physical verification of all movable and immovable assets across multiple company sites.
- Confirm existence condition location and tagging of assets.
- Identify missing damaged obsolete or duplicate assets.
- Updating the Asset Register
- Capture and update verified asset information on the company asset register.
- Ensure alignment between physical verification results and financial records.
- Reconcile discrepancies identified during the count.
Depreciation & Impairment Calculations
- Perform depreciation calculations in accordance with GRAP 17.
- Assess assets for impairment indicators and assist with impairment testing.
- Review useful lives residual values and changes in estimates where required.
Reporting
- Prepare progress reports exception reports and final asset verification summaries.
- Ensure audit-ready supporting documentation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years experience performing asset counts and updating assets registers.
- Knowledge of asset verification tagging and register maintenance.
- Experience in calculating depreciation and impairment.
- Working knowledge of GRAP 17 (Property Plant and Equipment).
- Ability to meet tight deadlines across multiple sites.
Deliverables
- Verified and updated asset register.
- Completed depreciation and impairment schedules.
- Final asset verification report.
- Audit-ready working papers aligned to GRAP 17.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in finance/accounting or related field or similar qualification. 3-5 years experience in Budgeting. Sound experience of budgeting accounting forecasting and resource allocation in a developed organization; preferably within the public sector. Proven ability to manage train coach develop and motivate staff. Reporting and financial management in accordance with varied compliance obligations. Financial and contractual matters in a public sector environment desirable
