In this role you will be responsible for onsite estimation of steel projects ensuring accurate and competitive bids. You will work closely with our project management and engineering teams to understand project requirements and develop cost-effective solutions. Your role as a Steel Estimator
- Prepare detailed pricing estimates for new projects add-on work or change orders on current projects
- Review plans and specifications
- Prepare accurate takeoffs for materials labor equipment and delivery costs through estimates
- Develop preliminary project schedules sequencing plans and logistics plans
- Obtain competitive pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors as needed
- Professionally interact and communicate with co-workers contractors engineers architects and owners
- Excel under pressure to meet project deadlines and budget
- Stay abreast of current technology in an effort to continually improve production and quality of work
What you need to be successful
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software is crucial for creating detailed project layouts and collaborating with architects and engineers
- Previous experience in steel erection and estimating is preferred
- Knowledge of construction estimation software such as Bluebeam or On-Screen Takeoff is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
