The Regulatory and Identity Services branch is responsible for regulatory systems and functions related to charities gambling anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) digital safety passports civil registries citizenship and identity management. The branch also delivers identity products and services that enable customers to register their life events access services from other public and private sector agencies and businesses and travel seamlessly overseas. The branch has programmes of work and support functions that include data analysis and insights information sharing forecasting systems service design risk and assurance intelligence and investigations engagement and education operational policy product innovation international product strategy and commercial.

The Regulatory Services Groupleadsand influences the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulatory system. Through this work we protect the trust in the financial systems of New Zealand.
The Department currently shares regulatory oversight with the Reserve Bank and the Financial Markets Authority. From 1 July 2026 DIA will take on full responsibility as the sole AML/CFT regulator.

We are looking for an Intelligence Analyst AML/CFT to come join our team on a fixed term (ASAP until 30 June 2027). This is a particularly interesting role where you will be responsible for the development of tactical operational and strategic intelligence products focused on our AML/CFT system and providing intelligence input directly into operational and strategic decision-making across the group.
Key to your success in the role will be your work to leverage your intelligence analytical skills to undertake environmental scanning trend identification and risk profiling. Working collaboratively in teams across the business and with a range of partner agencies your effective and influential engagement skills will be important.

The experience knowledge and skills you will bring to this position will be:
- Prior experience as an Intelligence Analyst or demonstrated equivalent with previous experience in AML/CFT or financial intelligence preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills proven experience in providing effective analytical outputs and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
- Experience leading the development of analytical products.
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships across adiverse stakeholder base.
- A passion for continuous improvement with strong planning and task prioritisation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
