**Key Responsibilities**
- Be a trusted helper for wealthy individuals and business clients giving them advice on taxes following tax laws and planning strategies.
- Check and approve complex tax returns for individuals corporations (both C and S types) partnerships and estates across different states.
- Lead and guide a team of tax professionals helping them with challenges providing training and ensuring quality work.- Research complicated tax issues such as how to set up businesses manage estates and trusts and find ways to save on taxes from investments.
- Handle IRS and State audits for clients making sure to respond accurately and quickly to inquiries.
- Work with other accounting and advisory teams to provide complete services for clients including bookkeeping business valuations and financial planning.
- Look for opportunities to help clients save money on taxes and identify any risks using up-to-date knowledge of federal and California tax laws.
- Build strong relationships with clients by communicating regularly holding yearly planning meetings and quickly responding to their questions.
- Help the firm grow by working on client proposals and supporting business development efforts.
**Qualifications**
- Must have a CPA designation (active and valid in California).
- At least 7 years of experience in public accounting especially working with wealthy individuals and small businesses on taxes.
- Ability to manage complicated tax situations with little supervision.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws especially for businesses and high-income individuals.
- Experience using tax software like Lacerte UltraTax or similar programs.
- Good leadership project management and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and keep client information private in a busy client-focused environment.
