About the Team:
The AI & Data Platform teams mission is to build and maintain a rock-solid scalable and efficient foundation for all data and machine learning operations at Quizlet. This team is the bedrock upon which our AI ambitions are built. As we consolidate our AI efforts to create a unified and powerful product portfolio the platform teams primary focus is on achieving operational excellence. We aggressively buy and leverage best-in-class MLOps and DataOps technologies to accelerate the pace of innovation across Quizlet.
About the Role:
About the Role
As a Senior AI & Data Platform Engineer youll play a critical role in designing and building Quizlets next-generation analytical data and machine learning infrastructure. Youll partner with teams across Data Science ML Engineering and Product to deliver scalable reliable and efficient systems that enable the development and deployment of AI-powered features.
Youll measure success through platform reliability developer experience and adoption across teams. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the foundation that powers Quizlets AI roadmap.
Were happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration we require employees to be in the office a minimum of three days per week: Monday Wednesday and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. We believe that this working environment facilitates increased work efficiency team partnership and supports growth as an employee and organization.
In this role you will:
- Build and maintain ML and data infrastructure to support large-scale model training deployment and monitoring
- Collaborate with Product Management Analytics and Engineering teams to design data systems that meet diverse needs
- Develop and optimize tools that improve developer efficiency and data platform usability
- Implement scalable and resilient data ingestion and processing systems (real-time and batch)
- Contribute to platform reliability observability and automation improvements
- Participate in design and code reviews sharing best practices and mentoring peers
What you bring to the table:
- 58 years of experience building and maintaining large-scale data or ML platforms in production environments
- Strong experience with distributed systems data pipelines and ML infrastructure (e.g. Airflow dbt GCP Kubernetes feature stores)
- Experience contributing to best practices for reliability and efficiency in data workflows
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with cross-cloud data infrastructure or hybrid orchestration
- Contributions to open-source data/ML tooling or frameworks
- Demonstrated impact improving developer experience or data reliability

Total compensation for this role is market competitive including a starting base salary of $204000 - $239000 depending on location and experience as well as company stock options
