Overview
Functions as a pharmacy technician as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Assists pharmacists in entering orders billing preparing and distributing medications maintaining accurate medication records and assessing inventory. Answers telephone calls assists patients and maintains patient confidentiality. All duties are performed under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and may be performed across all UnityPoint HealthDes Moines locations.

Responsibilities
Builds and maintains relationships with members of the health care team by placing an emphasis on open communication
Inspires and motivates members of the health care team by building department morale
Strives to ensure the success of the team as a whole over personal success
Effectively balances the responsibilities of the team and individual team members
Demonstrates a commitment to the development and achievement of common goals within the department and health system
Integrates and demonstrates FOCUS values and AIDET while adhering to the policies and procedures of UPH-DM
Demonstrates a commitment to the improvement of patient care customer satisfaction and team member performance
Encourages and provides constructive feedback to identify opportunities for improvement within the department
Performs accurate data entry by selecting the correct drug product interpreting sig codes and entering all other prescription components
Qualifications
Education: Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to proficiently read write and speak English. Must have strong math skills with some basic algebra. Must type accurately and with moderate speed
Experience: Ability to work with computer systems required. 1 or more years of community pharmacy experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s): Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist-Intern (if enrolled in a college of pharmacy) with
the Iowa Board of Pharmacy prior to commencement of employment
Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other nationally recognized certification provider
