Process Safety Manager
Position Summary:
The Process Safety Manager will be responsible for leading the strategic development implementation and continuous improvement of OSHA PSM (process safety management) systems at the Red Diamond Austin Powder Manufacturing plant. This leadership role ensures full compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standards while proactively managing operational risks. This role will also encompass the EPA RMP compliance program maintaining documentation per regulations. The manager will serve as a key driver of a safety-first culture promoting reliability and professional growth across a diverse workforce that includes entry-level operators engineers and plant leadership. Additionally this role will provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering and operations teams to support safe and efficient plant performance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with plant leadership to align safety initiatives with operational goals.
Own and maintain the plants PSM program in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR safe operation and compliance of the facility.
Own EPA RMP program and maintain compliance
Work with company and consultants to deliver on PSM and RMP materials required
Conduct and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP and What-If studies.
Ensure timely completion of Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Oversee mechanical integrity programs for critical equipment.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for process-related events.
Maintain and update operating procedures and ensure employee training compliance.
Interface with regulatory agencies and ensure audit readiness.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelors degree in chemical engineering Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities
Minimum 4 years of experience in process safety chemical manufacturing or high-hazard industries.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP).
Proven experience leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) using methodologies like HAZOP What-If FMEA or LOPA.
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing process safety systems and risk mitigation strategies.
Expertise in root cause analysis incident investigation and corrective action planning.
Familiarity with reliability engineering principles asset integrity and mechanical integrity programs.
Ability to interpret P&IDs process flow diagrams and control systems.
Proficiency in process safety software tools

Must be able to climb ladders and ascend stairs
Must be able to don PPE and breathing air helmet
