JOB TITLE:

Project Coordinator Sr. - Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research (WIHR)

JOB PURPOSE:

Coordinate and manage the administrative financial and personnel functions of The Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research (WIHR). The Institute supports the humanities at the University by funding research offering public programming and serving as a hub for faculty students and staff interested in the humanities. Working with the Institute director and steering committee the Project Coordinator Senior will coordinate the operational financial and public programming functions of the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research and its projects under limited supervision. Specific functions include but are not limited to:

  • managing logistics for public events;
  • producing high-quality humanities content for public engagement including social media and communications;
  • monitoring project budgets;
  • supervising hourly and student employees;
  • representing the Institute at public functions;
  • coordinating grant-writing and fundraising activities;
  • assisting the Humanities Institute with other related project functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage the administrative financial and personnel activities of the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research.
  • Develop project goals and objectives and revise as necessary; develop and implement a comprehensive plan for delivery and assessment of project objectives and goals.
  • Represent Wyoming or the University at grant functions or other meetings and events which may include reporting on projects planning collaborations with other project professionals and evaluating projects.
  • Develop recruiting and funding strategies; plan and write grant proposals; negotiate approval of grant awards; write reports on status of funded projects.
  • Develop project budgets; disseminate funding and monitor expenses against budget allocations.
  • Direct and supervise the project personnel functions including hiring training supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Consult with faculty counselors staff members and the public to assist students and/or program participants associated with the project.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • May provide academic and/or career advising for specific projects.
  • Represent the department on University or division/college committees as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree in a related field

Experience: 3 years work-related experience including administration supervision and counseling experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in a humanities field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Work or volunteer experience in humanities research-related fields (grant writing publishing for a research center or institute for example)
  • Work or volunteer experience in the public humanities (at cultural organizations such as libraries museums national or state parks or historic sites for example)
  • Social media savvy
