Job Summary

The mission of the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is to improve the well-being of vulnerable individuals and communities advance social and economic justice and eradicate pressing societal problems in complex and culturally diverse urban environments throughout Southern California the nation and the world. Our mission is achieved by providing students with experiential practice and competency-based learning and culturally responsive training that is informed by evidence and best practices.

Recruitment and Admissions within the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is seeking an Admissions Counselor II. The Admissions Counselor II plays a critical role in advancing the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Works recruitment and admissions efforts. This position is responsible for planning coordinating and executing comprehensive recruitment strategies and outreach initiatives to attract and engage prospective students including university visits graduate fairs and other recruitment addition the Admissions Counselor II provides guidance and support to prospective students throughout the admissions process evaluates and processes applications makes admission decisions and ensures compliance with university policies and regulations. Some travel is required for this position as you will be attending various recruitment events and visiting prospective schools and colleges to promote the Schools programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Counsel prospective students and their families on admission policies procedures and educational opportunities throughout the enrollment process

  • Respond to applicant inquiries and resolve admission-related issues through in-person meetings phone email and CRM systems

  • Ensures confidentiality and compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • Maintain current knowledge of university policies affecting admission and transfer credit evaluation; review and assess applications and make admission decisions in line with guidelines

  • Identify and select scholarship recipients based on eligibility requirements

  • Plan and coordinate recruitment programs and outreach efforts including university visits graduate fairs and other recruitment events

  • Develop recruitment strategies and plans for assigned territories

  • Assess effectiveness of recruitment strategies and modify as needed

  • Support special projects including planning development and implementation of short and long-term enrollment goals

  • Research gather and analyze data for trends and conclusions; present results and recommendations to administrators

  • Serve as a resource for the university community and assist in preparing content for informational materials websites and social media

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in admissions or recruitment within higher education

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with transfer credit policies and financial aid programs

  • Strong interpersonal communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the School of Social Works values including social justice anti-racism inclusion diversity equity and access.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to gather analyze evaluate and assess large amounts of data

  • Strong skills in interviewing counseling conflict resolution problem-solving and decision-making

  • Ability to interpret analyze and apply policies procedures regulations and requirements

  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills for communicating effectively with diverse individuals and groups

  • Excellent written oral and presentation skills including experience developing communication plans and instructional materials

  • Experience with CRM systems

  • Proficiency in office communication software/tools (e.g. Google Suite Slack Zoom)

  • Experience in social media management

Compensation: The annual base range for this position is at $70304 annually. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal state and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.
