The St John in Schools programme provides learning experiences for pre-school through to high-school aged tamariki to empower them to act in an emergency. With curricula already designed your role is to bring our programme to life! Youll create an engaging learning environment adapting your approach to different age groups and learning styles.
- 3 days / 24 hours per week - start date 19 January 2026
- Tauranga based - travel to centres/schools/kura across Bay of Plenty is required
- Work use car provided
- $29 per hour

This is a fantastic permanent part-time role with great flexibility to plan and schedule your working week of 3 days (24h). Programme delivery will be within school opening hours however any planning preparation and admin can be done at a time that suits you. Please note that this is role has a 19 January 2026 start date.
Qualifications :
Were looking for someone who:
- Loves working with young people and can engage them in a meaningful way
- Has an understanding of diverse cultures and learning styles
- Can adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and needs
- Is well-organised with great time management skills
- Is able to travel across the region with a full clean NZ drivers licence
- Has a genuine passion for empowering tamariki
A basic knowledge of Te Reo Māori is highly desirable but not essential.

What happens during school holidays
You have flexibility! Options include:
- Running sessions for early childhood education (ECE) or holiday programmes
- Taking annual leave and/or
- Opting for leave without pay.
Well work with you to find the best fit for your needs.
How much admin is involved
Approximately 20% of your role will be admin-related.
Who books the education sessions
Initially well handle bookings while you settle in. Once comfortable youll take the lead in reaching out to schools/kura and building new relationships.
