Job Description: Transmission and Distribution Interconnection Planning Manager

Position Overview

The Transmission and Distribution Interconnection Planning Manager for Ohio and Indiana will be responsible for overseeing the planning assessment and coordination of interconnection projects within the utilitys transmission and distribution networks. This role involves ensuring compliance with industry standards regulatory requirements and best practices while delivering efficient and reliable interconnection solutions. This role will be responsible for interactions with other Transmission Owners Large Load Customers (including Data Centers) and Generation Customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage team members in Ohio and Indiana fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Manage the internal process and procedures for all interconnection studies ensuring adherence to our internal FAC-001 and FAC-002 standards.
  • The primary point of contact for AES Interconnection Standards including ensuring our standards in alignment with standard utility practices.
  • Represent as the technical lead for all external conversations and presentations for all interconnection efforts including TOs Large Load Customers and Generators.
  • Analyze complex data sets and make informed decisions regarding project scoping feasibility and implementation.
  • Responsible for contract management and organizational adherence to the contract language for all GIAs ISAs CSAs and Wire to Wire agreements.
  • Manage internal and contractor resources to run the interconnection processes including studies billing and construction management efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure visibility on Interconnection queue and communicate potential required projects and/or changes in industry standards to the organization.
  • Oversee the scoping and planning of interconnection projects to support Impact and Facility Study reports. Ensuring alignment internal standards and general electrical engineering principles.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards (IEEE NEC NESC) good utility practices and regulatory requirements (FERC NERC PJM MISO IRUC and PUCO).
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and address any emergencies or critical issues that arise.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for transmission and distribution interconnection projects issues.

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the transmission and distribution system design.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience preferably in Interconnections Transmission or Distribution Planning or another related field.
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline and/or Project Management
  • Proficiency and expertise with the Interconnection Process for MISO PJM PUCO and/or IRUC highly desired.
  • Comfortable with negotiating agreements with external entities including GIAs ISAs Wires to Wires and Construction agreements.
  • Knowledge of industry standards good utility practices and regulatory requirements.

Position can be located in Indianapolis Indiana or Dayton Ohio. Travel will be required between the two locations.
