POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sports & Recreation Director the Sports & Recreation Coordinator plays a key role in supporting and enhancing seasonal Youth and Adult Sports programs with a strong emphasis on coordinating the YMCAs skate programs. This includes assisting in the planning development and delivery of skate sessions lessons leagues and special events while also supporting officiating duties staff recruitment and scheduling facility and equipment preparation and clear communication with parents coaches and all program areas the Coordinator ensures a safe engaging and skill-building experience for participants and helps maintain smooth effective on-site operations that reflect YMCA values and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Act as liaison between YMCA and participants for recreation programs (i.e. communication scheduling changes mailings etc.)
- Responsible for sports skate center and outdoor recreation equipment curriculum leagues schedules bookings and event management.
- Distribute equipment and information to coaches and participants as needed.
- Assist the Sports and Recreation Director in the preparation of teams schedules clinics camps and special events.
- Attend and assist with participant staff or organizational meetings as required.
- Assist the Sports and Recreation Director in the applicant recruitment process.
- Assist in hiring training scheduling and evaluating staff.
- Act as referee for multiple YMCA sports leagues.
- Perform field maintenance and set up equipment for games as needed.
- All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strongly prefer one (1) year of prior work experience in relevant fields such as sports programming recreation project-type management event coordination or facility/rental operations with a record of successful performance.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills; comfortable using computers and able to learn new software programs quickly.
- Basic knowledge of multiple youth sports refereeing event management and general program operations.
- Experience with coordinating facility rentals managing schedules or overseeing group activities is strongly preferred.
- Flexible schedule including the ability to work days nights and weekends as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter manage multiple tasks with limited supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Work will be performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel
- Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30ft
- Ability to work with paint cleaning equipment chemical compounds solvents cleaners and solutions in dry liquid powder spray and aerosol forms
- Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform position functions
- Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
- Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead crouching kneeling shoveling carrying working in narrow and confining spaces that may be underground overhead or at ground level. Twisting of the waist shoulders and legs and lying on the stomach and back.
