The Role: Accountant
This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Accountant to take ownership of site-level financial management payroll and procurement functions at a key operational facility. Working closely with the Plant Manager the role is pivotal in maintaining financial accuracy compliance and efficiency across the plants operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all site-level financial activities including payroll procurement and stock control
- Prepare and present monthly and annual financial reports to management
- Develop implement and monitor finance policies procedures and internal controls
- Oversee bookkeeping functions covering creditors debtors cashbook fixed assets and inventory
- Handle cost management reconciliations and statutory reporting requirements
- Manage O&M contract finances and ensure performance aligns with KPIs
- Support budgeting pricing structures CAPEX applications and insurance declarations
- Monitor asset control disposals and reconciliations
- Oversee petty cash bank cards diesel usage and stock counts
- Promote compliance safety and sound financial governance throughout operations
About You
- Professional integrity and a collaborative problem-solving mindset
- BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification (Postgraduate in Business Management advantageous)
- Minimum 10 years experience in accounting or procurement within a technical production or engineering environment
- Proven experience with accounting and procurement systems (Syspro or CMMS preferred)
- Strong background in payroll administration and month-end reconciliation
- Advanced MS Excel and strong proficiency in Word PowerPoint and Key 360
- Excellent analytical organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
