The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team sits within the Adults Health and Wellbeing Directorate and plays a vital role in supporting all areas of the council to minimise infection risks. The team work closely with commissioners to ensure health and social care providers comply with the Code of Practice for infection prevention. This includes over 400 adult residential homes childrens residential homes mainstream and special schools as well as a wide range of domiciliary and supported living services.

We offer a flexible working environment including a hybrid model of office and home-based work. While flexible hours are encouraged some shifts from 09:00 to 17:00 (Monday to Friday) are required on a rota basis to ensure service coverage.

As an Infection Prevention Nurse your key responsibilities will include:

  • Applying clinical expertise in infection prevention and control to promote and embed evidence-based practices across services.

  • Supporting the delivery of the IPC plan through activities such as audits and advising on best practice.

  • Designing and delivering engaging training sessions and presentations to a range of audiences.

  • Providing expert advice to social care professionals on the prevention and management of a range of infections.

  • Contributing to project planning and risk management strategies to enhance infection control measures.

  • Actively participating in Post Infection Reviews as required.

  • Assisting health and social care providers as well as other settings in managing outbreaks effectively.

  • Working independently managing your own diary and prioritising your workload to meet service demands.

What Were Looking For:

Were seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse who is passionate about infection prevention and control and eager to make a meaningful impact across health and social care settings.

  • You must be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of one years post-registration experience.

  • A genuine interest in infection prevention and control is essential along with a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable populations.

  • While prior experience in IPC is desirable it is not essential. This is a developmental role and you will receive dedicated support and mentorship from Senior Infection Prevention Nurses to help you grow within the speciality.

  • The role requires an Enhanced DBS check due to work involving both adults and children.

This is an essential car user position. The role involves visits to various settings across the Lancashire footprint with mileage being reimbursed.
