Summary Of Position
Under the general supervision of a designated supervisor provides safe efficient and on-time service through the operation of motor vehicles/transit buses as assigned. Must make simple and complex decisions regarding emergency traffic and customer services situations quickly. Ability to deal with stressful situations and drive safely despite distractions including two-way radio conversations and passenger conversations/questions.
Other Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid driver license for a minimum of 2 years. Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers License ( CDL ) minimum of a class B with air brake and passenger endorsements Must maintain a valid Department of Transportation ( DOT ) Medical Certificate Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent Must pass drug and alcohol screening tests as mandated by Department of Transportation regulations as well as a criminal background check Ability to read write speak and understand English and communicate and work effectively with the public Ability to perform basic arithmetic and write legibly on all required documents Thorough knowledge of federal state and local laws governing the operation of motor vehicles (including buses carrying 14 60 passengers) Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position. Must be reliable dependable and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
