Responsible for maturing the enterprise architecture discipline to deliver insights ensuring technology solutions align with business objectives regulatory requirements and operational excellence. Executes strategic vision mentors other architects and drives innovation across the organization. Actively participates in all phases of system design upholding architecture principles and supports both business and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
What youll do:
- Collaborate on and execute a long-range architectural roadmap that anticipates future business needs and maximizes technology investments via EA insights and application rationalization.
- Lead and oversee the EA roadmap execution and support projects with solution artifacts to continuously maintain the current-state ecosystem.
- Lead and evolve the capability model with asset mapping to mature portfolio management.
- Build and curate an internal knowledge base of capabilities systems processes interdependencies and underlying design via the EA tool.
- Ensure current-state architecture and design documentation is up-to-date reflective of where future investments may be required among other TIME model insights.
- Provide on-going assessments of enterprise asset alignment and assist in definition of reference architectures.
- Maintain enterprise architecture principles standards best practices and enforce through Architecture Review Board and projects.
- Governs framework adoption and architecture decision records to ensure compliance (TOGAF Zachman Archimate).
- Ensure alignment between enterprise solution and technical architecture layers.
- Develop architecture artifacts including (but not limited to) solution scoping options analysis logical and physical architecture diagrams architecture rationale/narrative value streams as-is and to-be architecture models.
- Implement architecture maturity assessments and continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure scalability performance and resilience of critical systems.
- Sets standards for tooling
- Drive technology innovation while ensuring security compliance and risk management standards.
- Participate in shaping the technology landscape including AI software infrastructure and cloud platforms by identifying evaluating and documenting emerging technology and trends.
- Lead modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Identify infrastructure tools standards governance and best practices to effectively operate in a cloud environment.
- Drive API-first architecture and microservices adoption strategies.
- Partner with data architecture and analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders consisting of internal business areas and external IT subcontractors and system vendors to identify source and implement technology solutions that will meet business needs. Participate in formal and informal program reviews.
- Ensure business and project stakeholders are clear on Solution Architecture design. Facilitate technical decisions to conclusion likely with TA involvement.
- Serve as a primary technology advisor to SLT/ELT.
- Collaborate with business units to understand requirements and translate into technical strategy.
- Partner with risk compliance and audit teams to ensure regulatory adherence.

What you need to succeed:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven or more years of progressive experience in architecture design and support.
- Ten or more years of IT experience
- Extensive Orbus Infinity experience or related EA tools with meta model definition
- Strong ability to support both EA and solution artifacts simultaneously
- Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF Zachman Archimate)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure Google Cloud).
- Proficiency in API management microservices and distributed systems architecture
- Experience with SalesForce FACETS ServiceNow Matillion Apigee Snowflake and data warehousing tools/practices
- Experience with data architecture analytics platforms and data governance
- Experience with best practice software development integration and configuration management methodologies and project management office reporting
- Coachable adaptable and willing to both learn and teach new technologies/processes.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives
- Strong business acumen with ability to align technology strategy to business outcomes
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for inter-level audiences
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive consensus
- Expert in agile or waterfall methodologies
The extras:
- Masters degree in a technical discipline such as Information Systems Management Systems Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience with multiple platforms operating systems RDBMS and integrated development environments
- Five or more years experience in healthcare/insurance industry.
Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
