Data Analyst

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to work closely with our Business Client Stakeholders Application Data Services and BI teams to deliver high-quality data solutions and business intelligence. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can analyze data requirements perform data profiling and mapping support ETL development create insightful reports and dashboards and ensure data quality throughout the data lifecycle. Youll bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams while contributing to both data integration and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Analysis & Documentation:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document data and reporting requirements
• Translate business needs into technical specifications for ETL and BI solutions
• Conduct requirement clarification sessions and workshops
• Document business rules data definitions and acceptance criteria
• Create functional specifications and user stories for development teams
• Maintain requirements traceability throughout project lifecycle

Data Analysis & Profiling:

• Perform comprehensive data profiling on source systems to understand data structures and quality
• Analyze data patterns anomalies and inconsistencies across multiple data sources
• Conduct gap analysis between source and target data models
• Identify data quality issues and recommend remediation strategies
• Perform statistical analysis to validate data distributions and outliers
• Document data characteristics volumes and refresh frequencies

Data Mapping & Design Support:

• Assist in creating detailed source-to-target data mapping documents for ETL development
• Define transformation logic and business rules for data integration
• Work with the ETL Architect to design data models and integration patterns
• Document field-level mappings including data types formats and transformations
• Identify and resolve data mapping conflicts and dependencies
• Support dimensional modeling and schema design activities

ETL Development Support:

• Assist the ETL Architect in developing and testing ETL processes
• Write SQL queries for data extraction validation and reconciliation
• Perform unit testing of ETL packages and pipelines
• Conduct data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems
• Support troubleshooting of ETL failures and data discrepancies
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on data logic

Data Quality & Validation:

• Design and execute data quality checks and validation rules
• Perform data reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Identify data quality issues and coordinate resolution with source system owners
• Monitor data quality metrics and create exception reports
• Validate data after ETL loads to ensure integrity for downstream systems
• Create data quality dashboards and reports for stakeholders

Business Intelligence & Reporting:

• Collaborate with the BI Team to design reports and dashboards
• Develop reports dashboards and visualizations using BI tools (Power BI Tableau etc.)
• Create ad-hoc analyses and reports to support business decision-making
• Ensure reports meet business requirements and usability standards
• Optimize report performance and user experience
• Conduct user acceptance testing for BI deliverables
• Provide training and support to end users on reports and dashboards

Data Analysis & Insights:

• Analyze business data to identify trends patterns and insights
• Perform root cause analysis for data anomalies and business issues
• Create analytical reports to support strategic initiatives
• Support business stakeholders with data-driven recommendations
• Conduct comparative analysis and benchmarking studies
• Document findings and present insights to stakeholders

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with ETL Architect on data integration initiatives
• Partner with BI Manager on reporting and analytics projects
• Participate in daily stand-ups and agile ceremonies
• Communicate project status risks and blockers to team leads
• Collaborate with developers DBAs and business analysts
• Provide effort estimates for analysis and reporting tasks

Required Qualifications

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience as a Data Analyst Business Analyst or similar role
• Proven experience with data analysis profiling and mapping
• Strong background in requirements gathering and documentation
• Experience supporting ETL development and BI initiatives
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies

Technical Skills:

• Advanced SQL proficiency (complex queries joins subqueries aggregations window functions)
• Strong experience with SQL Server or other relational databases
• Proficiency with BI tools (Power BI or similar)
• Experience with data profiling and analysis tools
• Knowledge of Excel for data analysis (pivot tables VLOOKUP formulas)
• Familiarity with SSIS and Azure Data Factory (preferred)
• Understanding of ETL concepts and data integration patterns
• Basic knowledge of data modeling and dimensional design

• Background in specific business domains (Telecom Contact Centre finance etc.)
• Experience with data governance and metadata management
• Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Statistics Mathematics or related field
• Certification in BI tools (Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate)
