DescriptionThe AVP Construction Surety reports to the Regional Construction Surety Manager and is responsible for making independent underwriting decisions ensuring business meets company underwriting standards and communicating key objectives to the team. This leadership role involves managing day-to-day business operations contributing to territory management and tactical business plans achieving departmental goals in underwriting financial management marketing service and driving efforts to handle existing and attract new construction surety accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Make independent underwriting decisions to ensure new and existing business meets Chubbs standards.
- Communicate key business objectives strategies and process management goals to the team and external business partners.
- Lead and oversee day-to-day business operations ensuring tasks and assignments are on target.
- Contribute to the formation and execution of territory management and tactical business plans.
- Achieve departmental goals in underwriting financial and credit management people management marketing service and cross-department relations.
- Meet targeted profitability and expense metrics.
- Drive production efforts to attract new construction account opportunities.
- Perform departmental branch self-audits of underwriting and agency files.
- Manage agent and account relationships to maximize underwriting process benefits.
- Monitor and direct the performance of assigned agents to ensure compliance with procedures and authority levels.
- Actively travel as needed to manage territory agency and account relationships.
- Provide quality control for the branch ensuring file organization and maintenance follow established procedures.
- Review and monitor agency files for current information including rates commissions accounts and market information.
- Build and maintain relationships with key business professionals (bankers CPAs vendors etc.) to enhance marketplace intelligence.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure exceptional service for Chubb Surety accounts and agents.
- Participate in special departmental projects such as strategic planning new product development and pricing.
- Work collaboratively with Chubb employees across departments and branches to achieve organizational goals.
- Apply business acumen to understand and address ongoing issues within the organization and marketplace.
- Make effective and timely decisions even with limited data and demonstrate initiative and achievement orientation.
- Promote flexibility and adaptability in the workforce working effectively under pressure and recognizing strategic opportunities for change.
QualificationsThe pay range for the role is $148500 to $198000. The specific offer will depend on an applicants skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
