Position Summary
A Research Technician II position is available at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicines Department of Oral Biology with Dr. Harim Tavares dos Santoss research team. The primary objective of this position is to study epithelial biology with a focus on salivary gland inflammation. The candidate will develop and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments histological processing and imaging molecular biology techniques and perform administrative tasks as detailed below. The activities of the Research Technician II will consist of: Mammalian cell culture DNA / RNA extraction and PCR ; Protein detection/quantification and cell signaling studies Mice: maintaining the mouse colony drug treatment breeding and genotyping and sample harvesting Histology (sample preparation) Microscopy imaging (brightfield confocal and transmission electron microscopy) Flow cytometry: multiple channel FACS analysis and immune profiling Presenting at scientific meetings for studies that the person conducts Administrative duties (taking notes during lab meetings assisting with purchase orders and inventory management and managing protocol submissions and documentation lab organization) Training and supervision of new technicians and students Outstanding Benefits Package Working at UB comes with benefits that exceed salary alone. Minimum Qualifications
Requires education in a biomedical science or related field and at least three years of experience directly related to research or the program. Experience working in a research laboratory and the ability to work independently. Ability to troubleshoot laboratory protocols. Experience with animals. Tissue culture skills. Histology sample preparation and microscopy imaging. Experience in molecular biology: immunoblotting DNA / RNA extraction and PCR Highly self-disciplined. Proficient in Word Excel PowerPoint and basic imaging software
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ELISA and Flow cytometry; Genetic bioinformatic analysis.
