Job Summary

Main Responsibilities

Content editing:

  • Provide editorial input including review and editing for NEA publications to ensure OECD and NEA publishing standards of accuracy coherence clarity and effective arguments are are maintained.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in draft publications and provide constructive feedback to authors to improve content quality.

Content publication management:

  • Plan and manage the preparation of the Agencys biannual journal NEA News identifying appropriate material for inclusion based on audience behaviour and preferences. Help identify the needs for other institutional material including the NEA Annual Report and flagship publications.
  • Steer the work of the NEA publications team to ensure the workflow of NEA outputs ensures in a timely manner in appropriate formats on all available platforms (print/website/social media/external events).
  • Liaise with the NEAs communications team to ensure that publication findings and policy advice are being accurately reflected in the Agencys key messages and public narrative.
  • Collaborate with senior communications managers and editors elsewhere in the OECD to orchestrate efforts and ensure communication synergies are realised.

Diplomatic sensitivity:

  • With the support of POL colleagues help authors draft messages key findings executive summaries and other public material.
  • Support the biannual NEA Steering Committee meetings drafting the minutes of the biannual meetings and working with NEA leadership to develop communication strategies that align with organisational objectives.
  • With the support and guidance of POL colleagues review articles drafted by NEA staff for external publication in academic journals or in non-OECD publications and help manage copyright agreements.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • An advanced academic degree in communications journalism social sciences or public policies or equivalent practical experience.

Professional Background

  • At least three years preferably five years experience of editorial publishing and communications experience. Some substantive background in the energy field is an advantage.
  • Ability to take complex technical information comprehensively review and refine it in order to make it understandable to a broad audience. 
  • Experience developing detailed project plans proven ability to allocate resources effectively and monitor project progress against established timelines and budgets.
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate project risks and issues ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope.; ability to work independently with precision and to report on progress.
  • Demonstrated capacity to craft persuasive written content with mastery in strategic use of language tone and style to drive desired actions.
  • An in-depth understanding of communication strategy principles and methodologies: Proficiency in independently developing and implementing communication plans for specific projects or initiatives demonstrating a solid understanding of audience segmentation and tailoring messages accordingly.

Tools

  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite notably of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Experience in using project management software would be an advantage.
  • Capacity to use collaborative tools and to train others.
  • Knowledge of e-publishing and desktop publishing software would be an advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other with a commitment to reach a good working level.

Contract Duration

  • 24 month fixed term appointment with the possibility of renewal to a maximum of 36 months.
