Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Senior Recreation Adviser to join the University Recreation team on a permanent full-time contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leads the coordination and monitoring of all core Recreation Adviser activities including those undertaken by the Recreation Adviser team and casual Customer Service Advisers.
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of customer care and service delivery setting a standard that supports other recreation staff in providing a high-quality customer experience.
  • Takes a lead role in developing and implementing University Recreations membership sales strategy as well as engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Oversees the development and management of the recreation website and social media channels to ensure accurate engaging and timely content.
  • Collaborates proactively with all University Recreation staff particularly service area managers to ensure seamless and consistent service delivery.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

Along with a passion for sport fitness recreation or wellbeing and a proven ability to multi-task and communicate effectively essentials to apply for the role include:

  • A tertiary qualification in Physical Education Recreation or other related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a recreation fitness or sports administration environment (preferably similar to a university setting).
  • Experience in marketing and social media management including proficiency with digital marketing tools and platforms such as Canva (design) Campaign Monitor (email marketing) and major social media platforms (e.g. Facebook Instagram).
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
  • The ability to work on a rostered shift system.

Additional desired skills/experience include:

  • Knowledge of the university tertiary and student environment.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising recreational events.
  • A current First Aid Certificate.
