Finance Business Partner

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hillingdon to assist with the appointment of a Finance Business Partner on a 2.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 429.70 - 599.00 per day

Summary:

The Finance Business Partner will provide strategic financial leadership direction and support to the Councils Place Services including environmental and regulatory services. Working closely with the Head of Finance and senior service managers the postholder will ensure sound financial management effective budget control and the delivery of the Councils Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).

This is a key role in supporting the Councils financial sustainability translating complex financial information into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders and helping to shape strategic decisions across directorates. The successful candidate will also support and develop an Assistant Finance Business Partner and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function.

Experience within local government finance is essential and familiarity with Oracle Fusion systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert financial advice and challenge to senior managers to ensure services operate within budget and deliver value for money.
• Translate complex financial data into clear and actionable insights for service directors and non-financial managers.
• Manage financial planning forecasting monitoring and reporting processes for assigned service areas.
• Identify financial risks opportunities and pressures recommending and implementing mitigating actions.
• Supervise and develop junior team members including the Assistant Finance Business Partner.
• Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including elected Members and service directors.

Qualifications:

• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIPFA ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent).

Requirements:

• Minimum of one years post-qualification experience (for POC) or fully qualified (for POD).
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Proven experience as a finance professional within a large and complex public sector or local government environment.
• Strong understanding of the local authority financial framework statutory accounting and budget management processes.
• Demonstrable ability to influence senior stakeholders and support decision-making through financial insight.
• Experience managing significant budgets and delivering savings or efficiency improvements.
• Skilled in using financial systems and advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
