Job Description Summary:

This is a temporary part-time position which teaches courses that align with the needs of a specific school within the university. The work performed aligns with educational preparation expertise and programmatic needs within the school.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely well-constructed feedback for direct patient care and clinical assignments.
  • Guide students in various clinical care areas including hospitals clinics and other healthcare settings.
  • Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives.
  • Foster critical thinking analytical skills communication and problem-solving abilities among students.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to prepare for clinical lab and simulation instruction.
  • Create a clinical learning environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits.
  • Enforce appropriate policies and expectations for students in compliance with KUMC policies.
  • Utilize technology tools effectively including learning management systems e-mail and office software.
  • Evaluate student progress using established methods.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by administrative guidelines and legal standards.
  • Attend all required orientations.
  • Attend ALL clinical and lab classes.

Work Environment

Clinical Teaching Assistants will facilitate student learning in clinical settings that can include acute care long-term care primary care public health departments and schools. Clinical teaching may also be in simulation laboratories for simulation activities.

Required Qualifications

Education:Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

  • This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Kansas or a multi-state RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of relevant patient care experience

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience teaching in a nursing program with a least one course taught.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant patient experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in precepting and/or mentoring nurses.
