DescriptionThe Coordinator of Student Success Programs supports and facilitates student transition programs in Student Success Programs (SSP). Reporting to the Director of Student Success programs this position works collaboratively with students faculty and staff across campus in the planning and execution of both large and small-scale programs and is responsible for the training and supervising of up to 50 student-peer mentors.
Responsibilities- Recruits hires trains and supervises peer mentors to support summer transition programs first-year efforts first-gen efforts and other success initiatives
- Develops and leads comprehensive training for new mentors and conducts on-going development and support throughout the academic year
- Provides performance feedback and coaching to peer mentors
- Creates and monitors budget for mentor recruitment training and payroll
- Manages biweekly and monthly payroll
- Coordinates and supports large and small-scale programs and activities that support student transition and retention efforts in collaboration with Director which includes: planning organization operations and student involvement in on/off-campus activities and events; managing the logistics (housing dining and other student needs) for residential programs; administrative tasks including contracts purchasing and monitoring operational expenses will be required
- Attendance/oversight of some evening/weekend events required
- Actively recruits students to participate in programs
- Maintains on-going communication with prospective/new students families and local K-12 educational representatives for recruitment and support of transitional programs
- Attends campus-wide recruitment events to market student success programs
- Conducts information sessions at high schools and during new student orientation sessions
- Assists the Director with program assessment of student success initiatives including monitoring the progression of program participants conducting student focus groups and launching/compiling student satisfaction surveys

- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Establish and maintain working relations with diverse constituencies
- Knowledge about barriers and challenges related to post-secondary degree attainment
- Demonstrated ability to plan organize and coordinate events and programs
- Ability to use relevant computer technologies and software
- Ability to work/collaborate with internal and external constituents to foster positive relationships

QualificationsMinimum:Requires a bachelors degree in a relevant field; two years of professional experience in higher education coordinating student activities or programs and working with students on the transition to college; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Preferred:A masters degree experience with related student success programs experience with program assessment and evaluation and prior supervisory training and experience is preferred.
