Spectrum Healthcare Resources a premier healthcare services provider is seeking a dedicated civilian Dental Assistant for a potential opportunity at The Federal Bureau of Prisons Field Acquisition Office in Lisbon OH.

Hours of Performance:
Monday to Friday 0600-1700 (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive examinations of patients oral cavity including mouth throat and pharynx and record conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues.
- Refer patients with abnormalities such as cavities defective fillings suspicious growths or periodontal disease to the dentist.
- Apply desensitizing and other topical agents to treat abnormalities like gingivitis and oral ulceration.
- Instruct patients both individually and in groups in proper oral hygiene care using various materials and techniques.
- Explain the common causes of tooth decay and construct sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for vital bleaching.
- Polish restorations apply pit and fissure sealants and assist chairside dental assisting when directed by the dental clinics Officer in Charge (OIC).
- Maintain accurate records of patients treated and ensure proper maintenance and sterilization of instruments.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a dental assistant program that qualifies for state licensure.
- Three letters of reference
- Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination TB Skin test of chest radiography AHA CPR certification
- Training in radiation physics biology health safety/protection X-ray films/digital radiography image quality and radiographic techniques meeting or exceeding 42 C.F.R. Part 75 requirements.
- Successful completion of the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) and possession of an active current valid and unrestricted license in at least one of the 50 states and/or the District of Columbia the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or territories of the United States.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a dental hygienist within the last two years prior to contract execution.
