The Study Abroad Advisor plays a vital role in supporting UTCs global engagement efforts by helping students participate in international programs. The position focuses on developing and running faculty-led study abroad experiences working closely with faculty students and international partners to ensure each program is meaningful and well-organized. The advisor handles logistics supports students throughout the process leads pre-departure sessions and ensures all programs meet university and partner requirements. The position helps promote global learning and serves as a key resource for both students and faculty.
ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Coordination
- Collaborates with faculty to design study abroad programs that support academic and institutional goals.
- Coordinates travel accommodations and logistical arrangements with international partners and service providers.
- Develops marketing campaigns to recruit student participants and promotes global engagement opportunities.
- Prepares and oversees program budgets to ensure financial integrity and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluates program outcomes and compile stakeholder reports.
Student Advising & Support
- Advises students throughout the faculty-led study abroad process including application financial aid risk management and reentry.
- Maintains student records and program data in the Via TRM study abroad system.
- Reviews and processes returned study abroad transcripts and academic credit approvals.
Faculty & Campus Engagement
- Hosts faculty workshops and information sessions to support program development.
- Presents program opportunities during campus events student orientations and class visits.
- Assists faculty and students in applying for scholarships.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Works well with academic departments and student services to support campus-wide initiatives.
- Maintains strong relationships with study abroad program partners to ensure high-quality experiences.
- Coordinates with both undergraduate and graduate programs to align study abroad options with academic goals.
- Excels at juggling multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfortable using student information systems especially Banner.
- Confident public speaker able to connect with students parents faculty and staff.
- Tech-savvy with experience using data systems presentation tools virtual meeting platforms and social media.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Three years of professional experience in study abroad international education student services or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree
Three years of experience specifically with faculty-led study abroad programs.
First-hand experience studying working or living abroad
Familiarity with different study abroad models international risk management and best practices in global education
Experience using education abroad software like Via TRM or Terra Dotta
Understanding of how financial aid applies to study abroad programs
Strong commitment to inclusive advising and experience working with various student populations.
