Job Summary

Lead Geoscientist Seattle WA

Endurance is developing modular seafloor geothermal power plants that harness the vast thermal energy beneath the ocean floor to provide gigawatts of clean reliable energy. Were addressing the critical power bottleneck facing AI infrastructure development while creating a path toward energy independence and decarbonization across the globe.

Backed by premier venture capital firms including First Round Capital and Point72 Ventures our exceptional founding team includes veterans from SpaceX (Dragon and Starship programs) Neuralink and Robinhood with specialized expertise in complex thermal and fluid systems.

Were seeking an experienced Geoscientist to join our team at our headquarters in Seattle where you will lead the geological characterization and site selection workflow for our revolutionary seafloor geothermal installations.

The Role

As a Geoscientist at Endurance you will lead the full process for finding evaluating and de-risking promising subsea geothermal sites. You will combine seafloor mapping structural geology and targeted ocean surveys to understand how heat and fluid move through the crust and use that insight to recommend where we drill.

Your work will guide major decisions across the company including site selection drilling strategy engineering design permitting and long-term project planning. This role is hands-on fast-paced and highly cross-functional. You will frequently make clear recommendations with incomplete data and your analysis will directly shape our first commercial deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a clear and repeatable workflow for identifying and ranking subsea geothermal sites.

  • Analyze ridge system data seafloor maps fault patterns and basic geophysics to locate areas with strong heat flow and fluid pathways.

  • Develop practical 3-D models that describe geology temperature distribution and expected system performance.

  • Plan and interpret AUV and ROV surveys including temperature measurements water samples magnetics and electrical data to confirm where fluids are rising.

  • Recommend drilling locations expected depths and major risks.

  • Produce straightforward resource models (P90 P50 P10) that inform engineering design and commercial planning.

  • Identify and clearly explain geological risks including seismicity sealing mineral buildup and cooling.

  • Work closely with engineering drilling and marine operations to align geological understanding with system design.

  • Maintain high-quality datasets maps and documentation as we expand exploration globally.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Geology Geophysics Marine Geology or related field (PhD preferred).

  • Strong foundation in structural geology and how fluids move through fractured rock.

  • Experience with geothermal systems or similar heat and fluid driven environments.

  • Ability to interpret common geophysical datasets including magnetics EM gravity and seismicity.

  • Experience building clear and decision-focused geological or reservoir models.

  • Proficiency with GIS and basic data analysis workflows.

  • Comfortable making fast and high-conviction recommendations with incomplete information.

  • Flexible proactive and energized by cross-disciplinary work.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with seafloor geology or mid-ocean ridge environments.

  • Exposure to planning or interpreting AUV and ROV surveys.

  • Understanding of geothermal fluid chemistry and scaling processes.

  • Familiarity with reservoir engineering concepts.

  • Experience with inversion or modeling of magnetic EM or seismic data.

  • Field experience in marine or geothermal exploration.

Benefits and Perks

  • Global Fieldwork: Travel to deployment sites along oceanic ridges including the Pacific Northwest Hawaii Iceland Japan New Zealand and the Azores

  • Hands-on Experience: Participate in sea trials and deployment operations with leading oceanographic institutions

  • Cutting-Edge Development: Work with technology spanning high-power electronics marine systems and clean energy

  • Impact-Driven Work: Help solve one of the worlds most pressing challenges which is clean and reliable power generation

  • Competitive Compensation: Comprehensive salary and equity packages

  • Benefits: Vision dental and health insurance

  • Dive Certification: Company-sponsored certification

  • PTO: Unlimited (with advance notice)
