The Department of Chemistry at Wofford College a private liberal arts institution in Spartanburg South Carolina invites applications for a one-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in Chemistry beginning in August 2026.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in general chemistry including both lecture and laboratory sections as well as the departments Science in Context course and potentially environmental chemistry if this is an area of the candidates expertise. We seek candidates who have demonstrated enthusiasm for working closely with undergraduate students in a supportive collaborative learning environment.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required. Candidates who are ABD by the August 2026 start date are encouraged to apply. This one-year non-tenure-track position is a replacement hire for faculty on sabbatical. This is an opportunity for faculty to gain teaching experience while receiving supportive mentorship from the Wofford Chemistry faculty and the College.
