DIVISION: Academic

UNIT: DiMenna-Nyselius Library

BASIC FUNCTION: Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes.

UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Physical requirements: mobility; must be able to lift materials off shelf. Requires some evening hours.

EDUCATION:Graduate degree in Library & Information Science (MLS or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience using varied techniques to engage learners. Prior experience providing instruction in an academic setting highly desirable. Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.

REPORTS TO: Associate Teaching & Learning Coordinator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides information literacy instruction to first-year composition classes. This includes:

• leading instruction sessions in the library instruction lab

• communicating with assigned faculty to confirm scheduling and tailor lessons

• participating in planning and evaluation meetings to review lessons and identify improvements

• developing and maintaining knowledge of Library and University resources

• collaborating with teaching librarians.
