Responsibilities
New York Institute of Technology -College of Osteopathic Medicine is currently recruiting for a Standardized Patient Educator for the Institute for Clinical Competence Jonesboro campus. Responsibilities include:
- Recruits and organizes continued community engagement to maintain standardized patient pool
- Monitors all standardized patient exercises for standardized patient portrayal and documentation accuracy using quality assessment measures
- Conducts standardized patient and participant orientations
- Supervises the training of all standardized patients in all aspects of case portrayal checklist items physical exam procedures and exam operations
- Prepares and updates all material for each standardized patient encounter such as assignments scenarios checklists handouts evaluation and schedules
- Assists the Director of the ICC/Simulation and faculty in case and script development and other duties as assigned
- Gives ongoing education on feedback and other important standardized patient skills
- Collects and analyzes standardized patient training and performance data after all assessments and provides feedback as well as remediation if needed
- Maintains the database of the case materials and assessment tools
- Keeps current on the educational theory and practice of the use of standardized patients in simulation and healthcare education
- Manages the onboarding of all standardized patients
- Understands basic principles of standardized patient pedagogy and maintains annual membership to standardized patient societies
- Fosters positive relationships with other NYITCOM departments and the Arkansas State University College of Health Professions
- Assists in proper set-up and breakdown of standardized patient labs and conducts debriefing after student sessions
- Maintains proficiency in CAE Learning Space and uploads standardized patient cases into the CAE Learning Space platform
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned such as quality improvement and clinical research
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Bachelors degree in a health care discipline education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
1 years of Health care discipline education or a related field is preferred.
One or more years standardized patient training experience or work as a standardized patient.
Ability to work well with a diverse group of people including members of the NYIT staff physicians students and standardized patients.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks.
Ability to be well organized in all work aspects.
Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations advanced problem-solving skills.
Must always maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
