Job Summary

School Nurse Sacred Heart SchoolReports to: Principal Sacred Heart Elementary and Early Childhood CenterSchool MissionSacred Heart School a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Divine Providence is a private Catholic co-educational learning community. The school welcomes two year olds through grade 8 to a respectful community which is academically challenging and rooted in the Gospel. Students develop critical thinking skills engage in service to those in need broaden their awareness of global perspectives and make Gods Providence visible. Position Overview: The School Nurse serves as a member of the faculty of Sacred Heart Elementary School and Early Childhood Center and is responsible for working within and maintaining the schools health policies and programs. The primary role is to promote health education and provide preventative health services to facilitate the physical cognitive emotional and social growth and development of all students. The School Nurse ensures that the schools health policies and procedures are consistent with the mission of Sacred Heart School and the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education. The School Nurse works collaboratively and communicates effectively with all members of the Sacred Heart School community in creating a school culture that is respectful welcoming and Responsibilities and Duties:ClinicalResponsible for the appropriate assessment planning intervention evaluation and management of students health care medically prescribed interventions including medication administration and treatment to students and handles minor health issues and illness on a daily first aid to students and to staff as with the parent/guardian and physician to develop and implement an Individual Health Care Plan as needed for students with acute and/or chronic health and monitors student immunization records to ensure compliance with Department of Public Health a communicable disease control program in school including prevention and management procedures. Assists in coordinating student referrals as appropriate to other health care professionals and community health education and health counseling to assist students and families in making decisions to achieve optimal levels of physical cognitive and social/emotional education and information for the promotion and maintenance of health as well as the prevention of illness and as a resource to school faculty members in health education and instruction and provides teachers with pertinent and wellness information on specific with school administration to recommend the development review and revision of policies procedures and programs for assessing improving and maintaining student accurate and complete student health records as required by the Department of Public Health and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and prepares all written reports as an inventory of required health office compliance with federal state and local laws regulations and policies related to school health leadership in promoting health and safety including a healthy in the provision of a safe and healthy school environment include the school nurses monitoring of immunizations managing communicable diseases and spearheading infection control measures. Quality PerformanceMaintains professional competencies through professional educational activities and self-selected professional growth and development collaboratively with administration faculty parents and students to promote and maintain an optimal level of health and wellness for students.
