Job Description Summary

The Generator technology engineer with a focus on Non-Metallics Engineering and testing. The role is an individual contributor responsible for the preparation testing performance analysis and verification of generator components. This involves the application of Chemical Thermo-Mechanical Electrical and Physical (Mechanical) properties & testing of materials. Other activities will be interfacing and supporting manufacturing generator design teams to test finished parts and products. The engineer has latitude for independent action judgment and decision with the support of senior engineers and technical leaders. The role requires qualities to integrate successfully into a global team of engineers. He or she must be capable of physical hands-on part and product preparation and testing.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Preparation and testing of high voltage insulation components and systems of non-metallic materials used in large electrical generators
  • Define mechanical/thermal/electrical performance testing requirements and specific development process improvement and qualification programs for stator and rotor electrical insulation & nonmetallic materials.
  • Develop & perform electrical mechanical and thermal testing plans for nonmetallic materials. Interpret documents and present test results large parts up to 40 lbs require testing
  • Work with internal teams and suppliers to define/formulate insulating components to further advance product quality and longevity.
  • Support RCA investigations for performance and warranty issues on generator rotor and stator insulation/nonmetallic materials.
  • Provide lab support for tooling and test equipment development/advancement.
  • Define/perform lab equipment maintenance with internal facilities repair and external equipment vendors

Required Qualifications

  • BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to understand high voltage insulation systems and related non-metallic materials chemically Thermally and electrical understanding.
  • Strong analytical experimental statistical aptitude.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with rotating electrical machinery or electric power engineering
  • Experience with mechanical testing for stress strain relationships HCF/LCF life cycle testing
  • Demonstrated leadership project management skills and team player.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $71600.00 and $107400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
