Job Summary
The University of British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (UBC-CDC) the academic arm of the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified applicant for the full-time position of Epidemiologistworking on various research studies of the Analytics for Public Health research team including various Long COVID-related projects OPTIMISE project and the Review Evaluation and Validation: Examining the Assessment of Longitudinal (REVEAL) Cohorts Project.
Organizational Status
The incumbent will report directly to the Director Research at UBC-CDC who is also a Clinical Professor School of Population and Public Health and the Executive Director Epidemioogy and Intelligence Services at the BCCDC. The incumbent will also communicate regularly with other Investigators public health leaders and will interact and work closely with the research team biostatisticians and provincial partners.
Work Performed
Design develop implement and oversee research protocols in consultation with Investigators
Design perform and interpret epidemiological analyses
Develops materials (e.g. manuscript presentation briefing notes) related to the research project.
Reviews and synthesizes literature relevant to the research project.
Liaises with multiple project collaborators including public health leaders clinicians and community partners.
Supports and develops grant proposal applications
Performs other related duties.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Inappropriate judgement exercised by the incumbent will result in the involvement of the Principal Investigators and Manager to evaluate the issue in question and work together to develop future strategies. Errors in performance could lead to budget over expenditures loss of funding from granting agencies which could have a significant impact on the effectiveness image and reputation of the project investigators and organization.
Supervision Received
Works independently under the general direction of the Director Research at UBC-CDC Principal Investigators and Manager in accordance with established objectives. Supervision will be in the form of progress reports and meetings as needed with the Principal Investigators and Manager.
Supervision Given
This position does not typically supervise others but will liaise with students investigators senior scientists surveillance analysts biostatisticians collaborators partners and research and administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference for MSc or PhD in epidemiology statistics health services or public health.

Experience in COVID-19 or STBBI research is an asset.
Ability to work independently and efficiently with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent writing skills.
