Position Info:

POSITION SUMMARY
This position of Music Coordinator works with the assistant superintendent to involve
music staff in the evaluation development and implementation of the K-12 music
curriculum and program.
Major Responsibilities:
- Facilitation of monthly music staff meetings.
- Evaluation monitoring and observation of our current K-12 programs and the
development and implementation new music programs to ensure alignment with
district and state goals.
- Coordinate purchase inventory and assignment of district owned musical
instruments.
- Planning for music staff development opportunities as needed.
- Submit budgetary needs and monitor district music budget.
- Regular communications with music staff principals and parents.
- Coordinate and set up school based community music events such as Elementary
Honor Choir and Band Night as appropriate to show case specific program and
students musical skills.
- Assist with implementation of new materials or programs as needed.
- Participate in District curriculum discussions and assist with the implementation of
curricular and program changes.
- Provide mentoring assistance to new music teachers to the District.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM)
1. Must be currently employed as a Monroe certificated staff member.
2. Extensive experience and personal interest in the music program for the Monroe
Public Schools.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and principals.
4. Ability to work with minimum direction but as an effective member of the team.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Assistant Superintendent.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is a certificated position and is represented by the Monroe Education
Association
The assignment is for one year and may be renewed based on evaluations of performance
and/or funding capacity.
Stipend: Release time of stipend as established by MEA Collective Bargaining
Agreement.
This position requires the coordinator to be flexible and have the ability to manage a
number of tasks simultaneously. The coordinator must possess outstanding
communication skills.
