Job Focus Area
This is a high-impact opportunity for an Education Consultant 1/2/ 3 to join the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) within the Office of Early Childhood/Strategy Division. The primary purpose of this role is the strategic development oversight and evaluation of key statewide child care quality improvement initiatives and contracts including as the subject matter expert responsible for managing the states Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency contracts and leading improvement strategies. Your work directly contributes to LDOEs mission of strengthening supports and services for childcare providers and ensuring high-quality interactions and instructional practice in early childhood education.
Success in this position requires expertise in program development contract management and strong fiscal oversight as you will monitor and authorize the allocation of state and federal funds for child care support initiatives. A key competency is the ability to drive instructional improvement serving as the subject matter expert for effective professional development focused on curriculum screening assessment and developmentally appropriate practices like CLASS. What makes this role unique is its blend of strategic development (defining project goals for RFPs and developing implementation plans) and hands-on direction (managing CCR&R).

Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
A bachelors degree plus two years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties:- Direct contracts and evaluations for child care support initiatives including the CCR&R and related contract.
- Oversee and manage all Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (CCR&R) contracts and the delivery of related services.
- Direct efforts to intervene with publicly funded child care programs offering unsatisfactory instruction.
- Serve as the EC Strategy lead to thoroughly define and document project goals scope and technical requirements for RFPs.
- Partner and collaborate with other members of the Early Childhood Strategy team to develop changes to Ready Start Network strategy.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type:Probational Promotional or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and notthe maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
