Class Summary
Job Description
This class is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties. The position will be required to perform work on highly specialized equipment associated with wastewater pump stations. Depending on the position level the incumbent may serve as a lead worker directing employees in the proper maintenance repair or replacement of equipment. This employee must be able to troubleshoot equipment to determine the cause of the problem and make accurate and timely decisions with respect to repairs and/or replacements.
Essential Duties- Perform installations repairs and general maintenance in functional area.
- Perform preventative maintenance in functional area.
- Prepare materials and cost estimates for various projects within functional area.
- Maintain adequate level of supplies and equipment.
- Assist with establishing safe construction sites to include directing traffic.
- May serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Other Job Requirements/Information- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours weekends and/or holidays.
Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Trades Tech I: Grade: A12(3)
- High School diploma or GED; and
- Valid drivers license;and
- Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Trades Tech II: Grade: B21(3)- High school diploma or GED;and
- Valid drivers license; and
- Two years of experience working in industrial mechanical maintenance and repair pumping systems electrical systems or power generation engine maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; and
- Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Trades Tech III: Grade: B23(3)- High school diploma or GED; and
- Valid drivers license; and
- Four years of related mechanical or electrical trades experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; and
- Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Trades Tech IV: Grade: B31(3)- High school diploma or GED; and
- Valid drivers license; and
- Five years of progressively responsible trades experience (mechanical or electrical preferred) some of which is in a supervisory capacity; and/or
- an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above; and
- Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
